Ever since Apple introduced a gold version of theiPhone 5s, smartphone manufacturers have been adding blinged-out colour choices to their range. HTC has the One (m8), Samsung has the Galaxy S5 and now, if a leaked image is to be believed, LG may be joining those ranks with the G3.
Photos revealed by The Verge show what is apparently a retail box for the G3 handset, complete with gold finish that supposedly indicates that the phone itself will be finished with a gold hue. As with any leak the image should be treated with some suspicion, but it's currently the closest we've come to seeing the final phone which LG is being careful to keep under wraps.

The focus of much rumour and speculation, the G3 is shaping up to be a terrific handset - if recent leaks are to be believed. The successor to the LG G2 will apparently be powered by the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor found in the Galaxy S5, HTC One m8 and Sony's Xperia Z2, include a 13-megapixel rear camera and, most importantly, one of the first QHD 2,650x1,440 resolution screens on a smartphone - although benchmark results suggest there may be an alternate 1080p model coming as well.
It's also possible that one of the two devices is the building blocks for an inevitable Nexus 6, a successor to the LG-developed Google Nexus 5 which itself was heavily based on the G2.
With no word from LG on the legitimacy of the leak, or an official announcement regarding a reveal date, we'll just have to wait to see what the company has planned later in the year.
