Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime certified by Korea's Radio Research Agency, could launch as Galaxy F

Samsung's Galaxy S5 is barely two months old, but the company is already planning to launch a super high-end variant which will likely be called the Galaxy S5 Prime or Galaxy F. We've heard plenty of rumours already, but today we got the strongest sign yet of the phone's existence.New certification listings spotted on Korea's Radio Research Agency have revealed three potential variants, the G906S, G906K and G906L, which seemingly correspond to three major Korean mobile network providers; the G906S should be launching on SKT, the G906K on KT, and the G906L on the U+ network. Here in the UK, the handset is expected to launch as the Galaxy S5 Prime, but may end up called the Galaxy F. After Samsung launched its latest cameraphone as theGalaxy K Zoom rather than the more logical Galaxy S5 Zoom, it's possible the company wants to change its branding to suit the new premium focus rather than trade on the Galaxy S5 brand.Despite todays confirmation, the certification listings don't give any indication as to what specifications the Galaxy S5 Prime will launch with. Current rumours suggest that Samsung will exchange the vanilla S5's 5.1in, 1080p display for a 5.2in, QHD 2,560x1,440 resolution panel that would rival the LG G3 in terms of picture clarity. Performance will likely come from a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor and 3GB of RAM.An image posted to the notorious @evleaks twitter account seemingly reveals a render of what the Galaxy S5 Prime may look like, suggesting the 16-megapixel ISOCELL camera sensor and light-based heart rate sensor will be carried across from the Galaxy S5, but the plastic construction appears to have been swapped out for a premium metal chassis.Quite what Samsung has planned for the Galaxy S5 Prime remains to be seen, but if the rumours are true we may not have long to wait to find out; the handset is expected to be revealed at some point later this month. As soon as we get an official confirmation, we'll be sure to bring you all the details.
